MIRZA CHEFS
By Kenneth Webb

Meetings of the Mirza Chefs are conducted on the second Tuesday of each month at Pittsburg Refrigeration. The meetings usually last about an hour and consist of discussions about our various projects. Members include Tom Ales, Jr., Rusty Akins, Dave Blessent, Dave Brown, Steve Browne, Rick Buzard, Jim Call, Paul Chappell, Wes Cobb, Joe Gregory, Merle Hamblin, Tim Hervey, Chris Johnson, John Ketterman, John Lair, Louis Lipoglav, John Manley, Todd Melton, Lonnie Myers, John Newberry, Dave Smith, John Swartz, Ken Webb, John Yoger, and Yoger. For 2008, Dave Blessent is serving as President, John Ketterman as Vice President, Ken Webb as Secretary and John Newberry as Treasurer.
In 2007, during the term of Chef John Lair as Potentate, the Mirza Chefs completed the purchase of a Gold Page for every member. The Chefs have a right to be very proud of this accomplishment. They have paid for more than $12,500.00 for use at the Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children. The Chefs support Shrine activities, and they are a committed unit of the Mirza Temple.
Because of the ice storm in December, the Chefs Christmas party postponed. On January 27th the Chefs enjoyed a wonderful party at Chicken Annie’s. The food was good as always, and the Chefs didn’t’ have to do any of the cooking. The special dinner meeting was held for the Chefs and their spouses, as a celebration of the great year enjoyed by the Chefs in 2007. Illustrious Sir David Titus and his Lady Denise were in attendance and everyone had a great time. Special thanks to Louis Lipaglov and his Lady Louella for letting us party at Chicken Annie’s.
Sausage making in the garage kitchen of founder Tom Ales is, of course, an essential ingredient (pun intended) of the Mirza Chefs activities. Our continuing thanks to Emma Louise Ales for letting the Chefs use her garage kitchen. She has been great to the Chefs, and she makes great cookies and candy. This year sausage made in her special kitchen for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.
Thanks to all the for making the Chefs a great unit.
