SEKATS
By Marvin Long
Jan 2008
It seems like this year has just flown by, it was so
busy and so much happened. But, as I look back it seems like the years have
flown by since Wayne Gaut PP started the SEKATS. We are still an active group
and growing. It was great to have so many new members join this year and we
still have room for others. We meet the second Thursday of the month at
different restaurants for business and friendship.
Several of our members could be seen in the different parades
around the area and we certainly appreciate them. It is important for us to be
out in the public eye and sponsor Shrine and all that it stands for.
The SEKATS, like most units, had an outstanding Christmas
party at The Barn in Coffeyville hosted by Wayne and Norma Gaut. Noble Norman
Steel provided a delicious Christmas dinner. Norma Gaut and Vicki Gregory
donated table gifts. Thank you, Ladies. We also had a dirty Santa Claus. After
losing several gifts, I ended up with a very nice Craftsman socket wrench set.
We said ‘Good-bye’ to 2007. We also said ‘Good-bye’ to our
president Warren Rhuems PP. and his Lady Sarajean and said ‘Hello’ to Tom and
Dee Zortz as our new president. We thank you for a great job Warren and Sarajean
and are now looking forward to supporting Torn and Dee. The Outer Guard Joe
Gregory was our Club Rep. He did a great job.
All Shriners interested in classic or antique cars, we invite
you and your lady to join us the second Thursday of the month for a great
evening. You do not have to own an old car to join with us; just have an
interest in these cars and their heritage.
We wish everyone a Happy New Year.
